HSBC is celebrating the milestone 80th anniversary of its Trust and Fiduciary Services (“TFS”) business, which was established in Hong Kong and Singapore in 1946. TFS is an integral part of HSBC Private Bank’s leading wealth proposition.
As one of the largest bank-owned trustees in the market, the TFS business provides and administers wealth and succession planning solutions. Its services include trust administration, charitable trust administration, probate and estate administration, along with family governance, family office and philanthropy advisory.
TFS supports families – cross-generationally – through market cycles and life events. These longstanding relationships, built on consistent stewardship, are the foundation of the HSBC Trust business.
With over 300 employees in Asia – including qualified trust specialists, legal experts, and accountants – TFS advises internationally-connected families on structures that work across jurisdictions. The business has delivered focused sustainable growth in Asia, with Assets Under Administration (AUA) that have increased by more than 40 per cent over the past five years.
Dimitri Anghelakis, Global Head of Trust and Fiduciary Services, HSBC Private Bank said: “The TFS business was founded on the enduring objective to preserve the life’s work and legacies of our valued clients. Our commitment is to serve and support our clients and their families with best-in-class expertise and service. As the generational wealth transition reaches historical heights, our focus is on providing governance, asset protection and cross-border planning capabilities, through tailored trust and succession planning services.”
Bringing legacies to life — across borders and generations
TFS helps families turn their long-term ambitions into practical, viable plans – preserving and growing wealth, strengthening family governance, and supporting succession across generations. Leveraging HSBC’s deep international network, TFS connects clients to the wider HSBC Group, with access to world-class investment expertise and corporate and investment banking capabilities, supporting families and entrepreneurs through the full business lifecycle.
In recent years, many trust portfolios have benefited from the HSBC Private Bank Prism Advisory service, which provides access to institutional-quality portfolio and risk analytics, alongside investment advice designed to optimise risk-return and strengthen long-term portfolio resilience. In 2025, we saw trust Assets Under Management (AUM) covered by Prism Advisory grow by more than 50 per cent year-on-year.
Philanthropy: giving with lasting impact
For many clients and their families, legacy is defined not only by what is passed on, but also by the positive impact generated. TFS supports our clients’ philanthropic ambitions through structured charitable trusts, helping formalise their giving, with enhanced governance, oversight, and measurable community benefit.
Charitable trusts administered by TFS Asia donate an average of USD75 million each year to communities, locally and globally, supporting education, eldercare, the arts and culture, the environment, and youth entrepreneurship.
TFS’s partnership with The Project Futurus, a social enterprise supported by an administered charitable trust, is one such example, funding 14,000 soft-meal servings for more than 1,000 elderly people.
